Milford City Council Votes To Continue Talks On Proposal To Restore Some Outdoor Pools At Former Boji Bay Site

November 26, 2019

(Milford)– A new amenity could be in the works for the city of Milford. The city council voted unanimously this (Monday) evening to continue talks in a joint project that would restore some outdoor swimming pools on the former Boji Bay site on the city’s north side. City Administrator LeAnn Reinsbach says the city is one of three entities involved in the talks…Pool Proposal01

“The city’s involvement at this point would be to do primarily the funding of the project. The YMCA would be responsible for staffing of the pools and the pools are currently owned by Lucille Mae, LLC.”

Reinsbach says having the pools in operation would serve as a boost to Milford’s business community…Pool Proposal02

“Getting the pools established and running it for a year would obviously bring in some more revenue. There’s people that would be coming in to the grocery stores, the convenience stores, the restaurants. They all could look at an increase in revenue.”

Reinsbach says current talks would have the city funding the pools to the tune of somewhere between $20,000 and $35,000 a year…Pool Proposal03

“The draft agreement right now talks about three years but in talking with council tonight they’re going to look at it on a case by case, year by year basis.”

Reinsbach says the funds would come out of the city’s Local Option Sales Tax revenues.
