(Spirit Lake)-The Festival of Giving Trees is underway, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Festival of Giving Trees in the Great Lakes Mall is underway to help fill the pantry at Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
Bridget Knudson with Spirit Lake Silver & Gold says there are a few more trees that have yet to be decorated. “We have probably about 12 trees that are out, maybe half are getting decorated or in the process, but we have 6 trees that need some businesses or some groups to come in and pick them and get them decorated.”
She adds that the public is encouraged to drop off donations for the pantry. “That’s what we’re hoping the public will come in and do, they’ll come and they’ll donate to Upper Des Moines and bring toilet paper or canned food or hand soap. There’s lots of different trees to pick from.”
The Festival of Giving Trees runs through December 24th at the Great Lakes Mall in Spirit Lake.
