(Fostoria)– Some turkeys won’t be reaching the Thanksgiving table after a truck carrying the birds crashed early Friday in Fostoria.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Jobgen of Schaller was driving a 2001 Peterbilt semi pulling a trailer loaded with live turkeys southbound on Highway Avenue. Authorities say Jobgen was attempting to make a right turn into the Cenex parking lot when he misjudged the driveway, causing the trailer to go into the north ditch where it rolled onto its side.
Jobgen wasn’t hurt, but a number of the turkeys perished in the crash.
About $40,000 in damage was estimated to the semi.
The incident took place shortly after 12:30 am.
