The Northwest Iowa Concert and Jazz Bands will present their Annual Fall and Holiday concert on November 18 in Estherville.

Concert Band Director Rich Nicklay says band members from across the region will perform.  “We have people that come from 70 miles away in the Humboldt and Algona area, and some local in the Estherville and Northwest Iowa area.  So, it’s a group of musicians who get together just for the love of playing.  We have 14 different cities represented in our Concert and Jazz Bands.

He notes that the bands will present a wide selection of music.  “The Concert Band’s performing a couple of marches, and one march that has a unique history called the Rainbow Division March.  Written in 1917, one of our members of our band, his father was a member of the Rainbow Division.  In addition to that, the Concert Band will be playing a Christian hymn, and we have a couple Christmas selections.  Following the Concert Band, the Jazz Band will play 5 different selections.  They’ll be doing George Gershwin’s Embraceable You, and another upbeat tempo called Big Mama Cass.”

The concert will be held at the Estherville VFW Monday evening starting at 7:30 and is free and open to the public.
