November 13, 2019

(Spirit Lake)-Donations are being accepted for the Backpack Program, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has the story:

Northwest Bank accepting donations for the Backpack Program throughout November

Northwest Bank is once again holding a drive for the Backpack Program.

Retail Manager Nicole Evans explains.  “It’s at both the Spirit Lake schools and the Okoboji schools that we’re supporting, and it’s a program that helps make sure to give food to kids on the weekend or over long holiday breaks, just to make sure that they get an adequate meal when they’re away from school for a lengthy period of time.”

She notes that donations may be dropped off throughout the month of November.  “We are accepting both monetary donations and also non-perishable food items and we are collecting them at at all of our Lakes locations, Northwest Bank in Spirit Lake, Arnolds Park and Milford.  The Spirit Lake location is collecting donations for the Spirit Lake Backpack Program, and Arnolds Park and Milford locations are accepting donations that will go to the Okoboji Schools Backpack Program.  Bring in cash or checks, and Northwest Bank is going to match up to $500 for both schools.  So, we have a matching donation to help purchase supplies for those students in those schools or you can bring in different non-perishable items.  We have a list on our website.”
