(Bancroft)-A young filmmaker will debut his first feature length film this weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Mitchell Keeran is the Morning Show Host on Extreme Country radio, and also an independent filmmaker.
Keeran says the premiere of his first feature length film, Summer Ball, will be held on Saturday. “Summer Ball, it’s a feature length documentary. It follows a local baseball team just about an hour away from here in Bancroft, Iowa, The Bancroft Bandits. They’ve been a team for just a handful of years now but, they’re part of the Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League. So, what that means is a lot of college players from all over the country are gonna play for a summer team so, I wanted to especially do a movie like this because my brother was the head coach and he actually had a very talented team. Without spoiling too much, they went on to have a record of 33 wins and just 5 losses so they were pretty dominant. Even beyond the team, the film also follows a lot of the supporting people of Bancroft.”
He notes that there will be two showings of the film at the Bancroft Summit Center. “It’s going to be Saturday, the 16th. We’re going to be showing two times at 6 o’clock and 8 o’clock in the evening so I just really hope to see a lot of people there and most of all, I just hope they enjoy the movie.”
