(Spirit Lake)– A portion of Peoria Avenue near Hy-Vee and Clean Slate Auto Spa in Spirit Lake will be closed to traffic starting this Thursday (Nov. 14th) for a joint project between the Dickinson County Trails Board and city of Spirit Lake.
Some railroad tracks in that area will be removed and replaced with a full-depth concrete section.
It’s part of a rails-to-trails project along some former railroad right-of-way in that area. The same project eventually will continue west, all the way to Lake Park, along the former right-of-way.
The road in that area is expected to re-open to traffic on Monday (Nov. 18th).
Businesses in that area will remain open and will be accessible as usual.
