Dickinson County Recycling Center to begin Winter Hours of Operation November 1

The Dickinson County Recycling Center will begin winter hours of operation on November 1.

Manager Charles Vigdal says the Center accepts a variety of items.  “One of our main things is, we’re a Regional Collection Center for Household Hazardous Waste, like your drain cleaners, your flammable paint.  We also take things like rechargeable batteries, lead and lithium batteries, oil and antifreeze.  We also take appliances and electronics for a fee.  We take things like fluorescent bulbs, and then we also do green waste, which is trees and limbs, grass and leaves, and then we also produce some things like organic compost and wood chips for people to take.”

He adds that the Center offers a Swap Shop for residents.  “We get in a lot of stuff that’s actually usable still, like paints and household cleaners.  We get a lot of unused house paint.  We check it out, and then we put it on the Swap Shop.  Same thing goes with house cleaners, we get a lot gardening supplies.  People from the community can come in and take whatever they want.”

The Center will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-4 starting November 1.
