Pheasant Season Opens Saturday (Oct. 26th) In Iowa

October 25, 2019

(Undated)– Pheasant season opens tomorrow (Sat.) in the state of Iowa and officials say it should be a relatively good one for hunters.

DNR wildlife biologist Todd Bogenschutz says roadside counts conducted in August show the pheasant populations for the most part were about the same, but he says some areas did see a slight decline, especially in south central and southeast Iowa where counts were down by about 50 percent.

Bogenschutz says hunting could be more of a challenge this year due to a lot of standing corn and beans still in the fields.

He estimates hunters will take about 200-thousand pheasants this season.
