(Spencer, IA) — A Spencer woman battling a rare form of A-L-S or Lou Gehrig’s disease is showing signs of improvement.
Twenty-five-year-old Jaci Hermstad has had six spinal infusions of an experimental drug called A-S-O.
Physical therapists are saying that Jaci has been showing progress with her core/hip muscles. In a video, a physical therapist shows Hermstad being able to control the position of her legs in a certain position when weeks ago she could barely hold it.
Hermstad will be heading to Minneapolis next week for another infusion.
Congressman Steve King urged the F-D-A allow Hermstad to undergo the treatment without the required testing because the disease was taking a toll on her body
