(Des Moines)– A northwest Iowa funeral home operator faces more trouble.
The Iowa Insurance Division announced today (Friday) it’s issued a cease and desist order against Andrew Joyce, Joyce Funeral Home, Inc., and Joyce-Alesch Funeral Home of Emmetsburg. The order states that they must cease acting as a preneed seller and sales agent.
Today’s (Friday’s) action follows a recent request for a receivership to protect funds being held in a trust.
Officials say the funeral home operator wasn’t licensed to sell preneed contracts.
Those who have worked with Andrew Joyce regarding preneed planning or who have outstanding agreements or contracts with Joyce, Joyce Funeral Home or Joyce-Alesch Funeral Home and have not been already contacted are urged to get a hold of the Iowa Insurance Division immediately.
