People for Pets Annual Fundraiser “Petoberfest” is October 19

October 16, 2019

(Spencer)-It’s a major fundraiser for People for Pets this weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

People for Pets Annual Fundraiser “Petoberfest” is October 19

People for Pets will hold their annual fundraiser with Petoberfest on Saturday.

Executive Director Donna Erickson explains.  “We have live music by the Polka Police, they are just a riot, and we have awesome hors d’oeuvres, special cupcakes, beverages, and then we’ll have a silent auction, a raffle and a live auction.  It’s just a whole lot of fun.”

She adds that proceeds from the event help with expenses at the Shelter.  “This is the main fundraiser of the year for our organization.  It is pretty much our budget for the year.  We pay for a lot of spay and neutering and we also have community outreach.  We have a feral cat fund.  We have a special fund for people that cannot afford their Vet bills.  This is the core of our year to get this funding.  Our Vet bills have skyrocketed between $5,000 and $7,000 a month to take care of all the animals, and we rescue about nearly 400 a year.”

Petoberfest will start at 5 o’clock Saturday evening at The Spencer Community Theatre.
