(Worthington, Mn.)– A northwest Iowa man is suing the city of Worthington and its police department.
In the suit, 33-year-old Kelvin Rodriguez of Sheldon alleges excessive force was used when he was arrested in Worthington last January.
Rodriguez also claims he was denied immediate treatment for four broken ribs, resulting in several surgeries and five days being spent in an intensive care unit.
The American Civil Liberties Union is handling the case.
Rodriguez was never charged with a crime connected to the arrest.
