(Jackson, Mn.)– Jackson, Minnesota based Federated Rural Electric Association has donated $7,500 to historical societies in both Jackson and Martin counties.
Federated General Manager Scott Reimer says Federated donated $2,500, then secured matching funds from the CoBank’s Sharing Success Program and Basin Electric Cooperative. CoBank provides Federated long-term financing for line construction projects while Basin Electric is a wholesale power provider.
The money donated to the Jackson County Historical Society will go toward a $300,000 building addition to increase the size of their artifact storage facility. So far, Mike Kirchmeier, Executive Director of the Jackson County Historical Society, says they’ve raised nearly $94,000 for the project, including a potential contribution of $78,000 from the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.
The money donated to the Martin County Historical Society will be used to renovate a room in the Pioneer Museum, making it an interactive display.
