(Okoboji)-Tickets for TEDxOkoboji will go on sale October 1, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
TEDxOkoboji is an independently organized TED event which will be held on November 22 at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji.
Lead Organizer Josh Fiala explains the concept. “TED started as a conference many years ago, about 20 years ago started out as a conference of short, crafted, curated talks about ideas worth spreading. As that conference and as that following grew, more and more ideas were able to be spread and about 10 years ago, the idea for TEDx really came into play, where they wanted to have individual communities bring events like that together. Fast forward 10 years, the idea got brought up to bring an event like that to Okoboji and during a young professionals event, somebody stood up and said, hey, we’re thinking about doing that. Do we want to get a group of people together to bring an event like that here, and it was an overwhelming yes. Ever since then we’ve been working hard to plan and bring great ideas to Okoboji and really highlight some of the things that we can do here.”
He notes that tickets are limited. “Because of the TED licensing guidelines, we’re limited to selling only 100 tickets to our first event.”
