DNR To Hold Third Annual Volunteer Day This Saturday; Will Be Painting Picnic Tables At Gull Point

September 26, 2019

(Wahpeton)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold its third annual statewide Volunteer day this Saturday.

Todd Coffelt, State Parks Bureau Chief, says more than 40 parks, including one in the Iowa Great Lakes, will be hosting events to spruce up trails, buildings and other park amenities. He says the projects will focus on getting ready for the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Iowa state park system in 2020.

Locally, Coffelt says they’re looking for 20 volunteers to help paint picnic tables at Gull Point State Park. He says they can just show up at the park at 10:00 am.

Volunteers are asked to wear gloves and old clothes.
