(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of Dickinson County is kicking off its annual fundraising campaign. Committee member Luke Donnenwerth says flyers will be mailed out next week…
“October is Good Neighbor Month so that’s the reason for the timing there, so everyone should see those flyers early part of the week.”
He says their goal is to raise $85,000…the same as last year. Donnenwerth says the Good Neighbor Fund supports 17 different nonprofit groups and organizations in Dickinson county…
“A lot of these small organizations, what we are able to raise through the community giving is a big part of their budget and has a huge impact on what they’re able to do here locally. I looked back and since 2004 the Good Neighbor Fund has given over one million dollars to these local non-profit organizations so it certainly has a huge impact.”
Donnenwerth adds you can specifically earmark your donation go toward a specific non-profit of your choice if you so wish…
“On the flyer that they get they’ll see a spot where they can designate those funds. So you can certainly choose a non-profit if you want all of it to go to that. If you want it to be distributed equally among all of them, as long as you don’t designate it that’s what we’ll do.”
Donnenwerth says the funds that are raised will be distributed this coming April.
He thanks everyone for their support of the Good Neighbor Fund of Dickinson County.
