Police In Worthington Make Arrest In School Shooting Threat

September 20, 2019

(Worthington, Mn.)– Authorities in Worthington say a teen has been taken into custody in connection with a school shooting threat.

Authorities say the threat was allegedly made Wednesday night on social media and that it was not believed to be credible. Schools in Worthington were open as usual Thursday with increased security. Officials say there was an increase in the number of students absent, however.

Shortly before 1:00 pm Thursday Worthington police announced a juvenile had been taken into custody in connection with the threat. Because the suspect is a juvenile, no name was released.

In a press release, Worthington police said there is no further threat to the public.

School officials say the threat was reported immediately to law enforcement and credited the community for quickly making them aware of it.
