(Hartley)– A loose cow triggered a lock down Tuesday at the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School in Hartley.
In an email to parents, Superintendent Patrick Carlin says the school was put on lock down after getting reports of a person near the high school with a gun. Carlin says it turns out that a cow got lose from a nearby locker and an employee with the locker was tracking the animal while holding a firearm.
Carlin says no one was threatened at any time. But he says the lock down was implemented as a precaution in accordance with protocol.
