(Rock Rapids)– Multiple charges have been filed in connection with a high speed pursuit Tuesday evening in Lyon county.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says it started around 8:00 pm when a deputy tried to make a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Highway 9. Authorities say the driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit reaching speeds of 100 mph at times.
A deputy was able to deploy stop sticks near the intersection of Highway 9 and County Road K52 on the east edge of Rock Rapids, before the pursuit was terminated. Several hours later, authorities located the suspect driver and vehicle.
20-year-old Shaye Horacek of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with eluding, trespassing, reckless driving, multiple counts of speeding, dark window or windshield and defective muffler. Horacek was booked into the Lyon county and was later released after posting a $2,600 cash bond.
