Spencer Traffic Stop Leads To Weapons Charges Against Wyoming Man

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– A traffic stop in Spencer Monday has resulted in weapons charges being filed against a Wyoming man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy stopped a Chevrolet Blazer with Wyoming license plates on Highway 71 near Mid-Continent Bottlers in North Spencer around 11:45 a.m. Authorities say the stop and observations by the deputy resulted in the discovery of open alcoholic beverages by two of the passengers and possession of a handgun by the driver.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old William Kenneth Hall of Casper, Wyoming, was taken into immediate custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two shotguns and a rifle. One of the shotguns was loaded; none of the guns were cased as required.

Hall was charged with carrying weapons…an aggravated misdemeanor; and manor of conveyance…a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the Clay county jail on 6,500-dollars bond.

Two passengers, 37-year-old Norman Eugene Hance of Newcastle, Wyoming and 42-year-old Martin Joseph Budde of Casper, Wyoming were issued citations for having open containers of alcohol in a vehicle. They were released on citation.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department.
