(Des Moines)– Funding has been restored to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Enhancement and Protection Program, or REAP.
REAP Coordinator Ross Harrison says they’ll have 11.6 million dollars to work with this year…compared to almost nothing a year ago thanks to state budget cuts.
Harrison says the deadline for cities and counties to apply is August 15th. He says the applications will be reviewed on their own merits, and that recipients will be announced in the fall.
After being non-existent last year, Harrison expects there will be a lot of interest with the return of REAP this year.
The legislature approved Governor Vilsack’s request for REAP funding during its regular session and the Governor recently signed the appropriation.
