(Arnolds Park)– The ongoing cloud of controversy surrounding the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum has claimed another board member.
Tom Kuhlman issued a news released late this (Thurs.) announcing his resignation from the board.
The release makes reference to accusations surrounding the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum and those who have alleged Kuhlman’s part of the problem.
In his written statement, Kuhlman states “I am removing myself from the Maritime Museum Board. I do this because I want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem that seems to plague our museum.”
Kuhlman goes on to write: “For nearly twenty years the Queen II, Maritime Museum and now Save The Park have been a major part of my life and the lives of my family. At this time I can best assure the continued success of the loves of my life by standing by the sidelines. I can still cheer loudly and give whatever support is needed to advance our dream.”
Kuhlman continues by writing: “At the age of 18, my life was forever changed by learning these values: I Believe: That faith in god gives meaning and purpose to human life.
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise.
That government should be of laws rather than of men.
That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality.
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.”
Kuhlman continues: “I apply these values to my entire life and feel that they apply to this situation as much as any I have ever been involved in.”
Kuhlman also makes reference to the election of six candidates to the Maritime Museum Board coming up this Sunday.
Kuhlman adds “I take great comfort in the fact that Berkely Bedell will give his best effort to assure that the amusement park will not close, as it is part of the dream and needs to remain a vital part of the museum operations.”
Kuhlman writes: “With all this in mind, I again ask for your assistance this Sunday as we work together to keep our dream alive.”
