Dickinson Co. Supervisors Hear Pitch From Recycling Firm

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors this week heard another pitch for the county to join the Tri-County Recycling Commission. The commission is currently comprised of Pocahontas, Kossuth and Palo Alto counties. But Tri-County spokesman Ron Ludwig says they’re in the process of updating their contract, and would like to have Dickinson county join by having recycling items picked up in unincorporated areas sent to the Tri-County facility in Emmetsburg.

The cost would be $1.44 per capita, but Ludwig says that could go down depending on how much more recycling would be brought in as a result of Dickinson county joining.

The supervisors took no action on the matter.

The county currently has an agreement with H & H Recycling of Spirit Lake to pick up recycling materials in the unincorporated areas. It’s in effect through the end of the year. Several supervisors indicated Tuesday they want to see how that goes and then maybe consider the Tri-County offer.
