WQC Receives 318-Thousand Dollars In Funding Requests

(Arnolds Park)– The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission has received 12 applications seeking funding in its next round of grants for the 2005 fiscal year.

They include:

A joint application from the Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Soil and Water Conservation District requesting 10-thousand dollars for workshops on low-impact developments;

Friends of Lakeside Lab is requesting 38-thousand dollars for water quality monitoring;

The Soil and Water Conservation District applied for 23,500-dollars for partial salary compensation of the Cleanwater Alliance Coordinator;

The Soil and Water Conservation District and Ag Knowledge Program applied for nearly 28-thousand dollars for a turf management program;

The Soil and Water Conservation District applied for 25-thousand dollars for a conservation easement program;

Five thousand dollars has been applied for by the Soil and Water Conservation District for a rock tile intake project;

The Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District applied for 30-thousand for conservation programs;

Another 15-thousand was applied for by the Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District for financial incentives;

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources requested 80-thousand for a watershed project;

Milford Municipal Utilities and Lakeside Lab requested 15-thousand dollars for a “water resources investigation”;

The Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum is requesting 45-thousand dollars for a low-impact parking lot project;

And the Dickinson County Conservation Board is requesting 3,700-dollars for a joint internship program.

A total of 318-thousand dollars is being requested in the 12 applications. Problem is only 200-thousand is available.

The commission will mull over the requests some more when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday (10/06).
