Dickinson Co. Attorney Pleads For More Help

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday heard another plea for additional help from County Attorney Rosalise Olsen.

Olsen again told the supervisors workers in her office are overwhelmed as the result of an extremely heavy caseload. Olsen says its vital another assistant be hired soon, or she says atleast one assistant is going to quit.

Olsen requested 24-thousand dollars to hire a person for the second six months of the fiscal year. For a full year, the cost will be 48-thousand.

When asked where money for the additional position would come from, County Auditor Nancy Reiman said she has no idea, other than raising the levy.

Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche said he doesn’t have a problem in granting Olsen’s request, as long as it brings results.

Supervisor Mardi Allen said she wants to thoroughly review the budget before taking any action on Olsen’s request. November 4th was set as the date to do that.

Olsen requested the supervisors set a deadline for acting on her request. That date is November 10th.
