Arnolds Park Reviews Preliminary Plans To Replace Triggs Bridge

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park city council Wednesday reviewed preliminary plans to replace the Trigg’s, or Hinshaw Bridge.

Plans call for the new bridge to be two feet higher than the existing structure…making it the same height as the Highway 71 bridge at the railroad trestle.

The new bridge will consist of a precast archway, with a bike trail along the south side.

A bidletting will be held this coming spring with construction starting in September, 2004.

The plans have been sent to the D-N-R for the agency’s review and approval.

The council also Wednesday authorized the Jacobson/Westergard Engineering Firm to proceed with a preliminary engineering study and to put together an estimate to straighten out the intersection at Linden and Iowa Streets. City Administrator Ron Walker told the council some property would probably have to be acquired for the project, and a large transmission pole owned by Alliant Energy would have to be relocated, adding to the cost of the project.
