Longtime Milford City Councilman Steps Down

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– A long-time member of the Milford city council sat in on his last council meeting this past Monday.

Lyn Johnson didn’t seek re-election in November and is calling it quits after some 23 years on the council.

Johnson says there were a number of controversial issues that came before the city during his tenure. One of them, a proposal to place a large anhydrous ammonia tank in the city, especially comes to mind.

Johnson says he’s very proud of accomplishments that were made over those years as well. He says improvements made to the north and south sides of Milford will have long-term dividends to the community.

Johnson adds the city has been very fortunate to have had the high quality of city employees that have come and gone over the years.

Although Johnson will no longer be seated at the council table, he’ll still be serving the city in another capacity…on the Parks Board. Johnson says it will be a little like de-ja-vu, since he served on that board prior to becoming a council member some 23 years ago.

Rick Kilts was elected in November’s election to fill Johnson’s vacant city council seat.

Mayor Virg Wahlman presented Johnson with a plaque honoring him for his years of service as a council member.
