(Milford)– Some good news to report from the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa.
The organization’s Director, Kate Wittrock, tells KUOO news Kongo, one of the two dogs missing since a break-in at their shelter last month, has been found and is back safe and sound at their shelter in Milford.
The dog was found southwest of Milford near the Little Sioux River. It had been on it’s own for atleast two weeks. It took four people to do it, but Wittrock says they caught Kongo around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Other than being dirty and skinny, Wittrock says Kongo was little worse for the wear.
She says the dog will remain in foster care and will be unavailable for adoption until further notice to give him time to recover.
The other dog that was taken during the break-in, Harley…a one-year-old Australian Shepherd…was found shot to death in a ditch near Terril.
Reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of whoever broke into the shelter has grown to six thousand dollars.
