Spencer Man Pleads Guilty To Meth Charge

(Sioux City)– A Spencer man accused of selling methamphetamine over a two-year period has pleaded guilty in U-S District Court.

U-S Attorney Charles Larson says 24-year-old William Allen Dirks of Spencer has pleaded guilty to manufacturing and selling more than three-quarters of a pound of meth between January of 2001 and March of 2003.

Dirks was convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth within a thousand feet of the Spencer Middle School.

At a plea hearing, Dirks admitted that between January 5th, 2001 and March 17th, 2003 he and others sold atleast 392 grams of meth and manufactured atleast four grams of meth in Spencer and elsewhere.

Dirks also admitted to making the drug at the home of Travis Woods at 119 East First Street in Spencer, which is located within a thousand feet of the Middle School.

Dirks faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 80 years in prison. He is also facing a four million dollar fine.

Dirks will be sentenced in Federal Court in Sioux City at 3:00 p.m. April 23rd. He remains in the custody of the U-S Marshall’s Office.
