(Spencer)– A special honor for Spencer-based Northwest Aging Association. The agency was recognized at the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging Annual Conference held recently in Chicago.
Cynthia Beauman, Executive Director of the Northwest Aging Association, says they received an Aging Achievement Award for their senior transportation initiative.
Beauman says the program was offered in cooperation with RIDES, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and other subcontractors along with the Clay County Seniors and Lawmen Together…or SALT. Working with school districts and providing aging sensitivity training to law enforcement personnel were also components of the initiative.
Beauman says the Northwest Aging Association was the only area agency on aging in Iowa to receive an award at the national conference.
Beauman adds she’s been contacted by aging groups from various parts of the country inquiring about Northwest Aging’s program.
