(Terril)– A single-vehicle crash northeast of Terril Thursday sent an Estherville man to the hospital.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Raul Sundoval of Estherville was eastbound on County Road A-31 when he fell asleep at the wheel. The 1997 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving went into the north ditch, slid sideways as he attempted to get back on the road, the collided with a concrete culvert and rolled…landing on its top.
Sundoval was taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. There was no immediate word on the extent or nature of his injuries.
Six thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
Sundoval was charged with failure to maintain control and driving while suspended.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Terril Fire Department and ambulance and Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance.
The crash took place shortly after 5:00 p.m. about three and-a-half miles northeast of Terril.
