Investors Purchase Brook’s Golf Course

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– A long-time lakes area golf course is changing hands.

A group of lakes area investors announced today (Monday) they’re purchasing Brook’s Golf Course in Okoboji from the Pearson family.

Tom Davies is President of Brooks, LLC…the group that’s purchasing the course. Davies says they plan to continue to operate it as a 27-hole course.

Bill Krause, one of the investors involved in the purchase, recalled his long association with Bud Pearson, who envisioned expanding the course to 27 holes in 1995. Krause told KUOO news he and Bud are more than dear friends. He says he truly admires the passion Bud had for Brooks. Referring to Bud, Krause emotionally added the saddest thing he sees today “is to watch a man in a wheelchair that would really rather be in a golf cart”.

Brooks Golf Club was originally constructed as an 18-hole layout by Val Brooks in 1932. It’s attracted many famous players over the years including the likes of Sam Snead and Walter Hagen and has played host in recent times to the Iowa PGA Section Championship and the Barb Thomas Pro-Am. The course has achieved and maintains a four-star rating by Golf Digest.
