(Spencer)– A Spencer man has been honored for his work with those looking to start up small businesses in the region.
Kelly McCarty, Director of the Northwest Iowa Small Business Development Center in Spencer, was named the 2006 Iowa “State Star” by the National Association of Small Business Development Centers.
McCarty works with the Iowa Small Business Development Centers, an outreach of Iowa State University’s College of Business. The Iowa Small Business Development Center partners with the state board of regents institutions and nine community colleges.
McCarty, a seven-year employee of the Iowa SBDC, was nominated by his associates for the honor. He was recognized at a special reception during the ASBDC’s annual fall conference in Houston, Texas September 15th.
The national association annually recognizes SBDC employees for demonstrating a strong work performance, contributing to the SBDC’s economic development efforts and committing their time and talents to small businesses.
