(Spencer)– With some trepidation, the Spencer city council Monday adopted a resolution supporting an incentive package intended to keep a major employer in town.
The package includes a 15-year interest free loan of up to 750-thousand dollars that would allow Shine Brothers to erect a new building housing a wire chopping operation. The operation is currently in an open area and has been the source of noise complaints from neighbors.
While that was a consideration, an even bigger concern was over the company possibly relocating to South Dakota, which had reportedly been offering some major incentives.
Shine Brothers employs about 60 people at their Spencer operations.
