(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors today (Tuesday) approved the hiring of Beck Engineering of Spirit Lake to oversee a road improvement project in the Shore Acres area on the northwest side of Big Spirit Lake. The project will be funded through a tax increment finance district being established in that area. The supervisors took the action after learning there will be no problems in getting easements along the road that is to be improved.
The supervisors also approved 20,453-dollars in changeorders for the courthouse project; approved the hiring of Benjamin Ehlers as an equipment operator at the Lake Park Road Department shop with a tentative start date of October 30th; and they set October 24th at 10:30 a.m. as the date and time for a public hearing on a request to open a portion of 250th Avenue between sections 28 and 29 of Center Grove Township west of the landfill. The dirt road is currently closed and gated to the travelling public. Someone wants to build a house in that area and is requesting a portion of the road be improved and opened. County Engineer Dan Eckert estimated the cost of doing that at roughly 4,500-dollars.
