Spencer Traffic Stop Results In Drug Charges

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A traffic stop last week in Spencer resulted in drug charges against a Spencer man and a juvenile.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation. A subsequent search turned up a bag with a large quantity of what’s alleged to be marijuana. Authorities say it was packaged and appeared to be for sale.

A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Joshua Norgart of Spencer, and a 17-year-old male, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana; a drug tax stamp violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Norgart was booked into the Clay county jail and was held on two thousand dollars bond; the juvenile was transported to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a warning for a traffic violation.

Authorities say the case is still under investigation.

The traffic stop took place early last Wednesday morning.
