(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man who pled guilty last month to charges of willful injury and going armed with intent has been sentenced in Dickinson County District Court.
Jeffrey Wittler entered the pleas in exchange for charges of attempted murder, assault while participating in a felony and domestic abuse when a weapon is intended or displayed being dropped.
Wittler was sentenced to up to 10 years on the willful injury charge and up to five years on the going armed with intent charge. The sentences are to be served consecutively. He’ll be given credit for time already served and will be eligible for parole and early release for good behavior.
The charges stem from an incident on June 1st, 2009 in which Wittler physically assaulted his mother, resulting in serious injuries to her.
