Long Time Resident And Former Spirit Lake Police Chief Named MainSail Grand Marshal

(Spirit Lake)– A long-time resident of Spirit Lake who served many years as the city’s Police Chief has been named Grand Marshall for this year’s MainSail-A-Bration parade.

The MainSail Board has announced Duane Yager has been selected for this year’s honor.

Yager served as the city’s Police Chief from 1976 to 1997 when he retired.

Prior to that, Yager was extremely active in various community organizations and worked in a number of different jobs. He was Secretary of the Salvation Army for some 22 years and served on the Spirit Lake City Council several terms.

Duane and his wife Lois are members of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. He is a Master Mason and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The MainSail-A-Bration parade begins at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5th.
