Clay Co. Crash Sends One Driver To Hospital; Another To Jail

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision this (Friday) morning at the intersection of two Clay county roads sent one driver to the hospital, the other to jail.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says vehicles driven by 34-year-old Robin Hockett and 42-year-old Monte Thompson…both of rural Spencer…collided at the intersection of 240th Avenue and 350th Street.

Hockett was taken to Spencer Hospital with minor facial injuries; no injuries were reported to Thompson.

Authorities say Hockett was westbound on 350th Street and Thompson was northbound on 240th Avenue when he failed to stop for a stop sign.

Thompson was cited for driving while barred, no insurance and failure to yield from a stop sign. He was booked into the Clay county jail.

Major damage was reported to a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Hockett; minor damage was reported to a 1990 Jeep Cherokee driven by Thompson.

The crash took place shortly after 6:30 a.m.
