Candidates For SL City Administrator Narrowed To Four

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake remains on a fast track for hiring a new City Administrator.

City Councilman Steve Balm serves on the city’s Administrative Committee, which is heading up the search, along with Mayor Eric Nielsen.

Balm says the list of 20-some candidates has been narrowed to four. He says the City Attorney’s office is checking references and doing background checks. Following that, Balm says the four finalists will be called in for interviews with the entire city council.

Balm says they aren’t prepared yet to release the names of the four finalists, but he says they’re very pleased with their qualifications.

Balm says they hope to have someone hired and on board the first week in November.

Long-time City Administrator Pete Hegeman accepted an early retirement package from the city and stepped down September 28th.
