(Spirit Lake)– A possible contender in the 2008 presidential campaign made an appearance today (Tues.) in Spirit Lake.
Republican Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas attended a luncheon for local and state Republican candidates. He reminded fellow republicans to stay focused on party principles. Brownback says the fact they aren’t sticking to them is what’s causing problem for some republican candidates in the days leading up to the election. He says reducing and controlling spending and support for the family and culture need to be at the forefront. Brownback says when republicans stray from those is when they get into trouble.
He also touted the importance of renewable fuels, saying Iowa and rural America could stand to gain a lot.
And when it comes to Iraq, Brownback admits a different strategy is needed, but he says it would be wrong to just “cut and run” militarily.
