November 22, 2014

(Sheldon)– A single-vehicle crash Tuesday in O’Brien county claimed the life of a Minnesota man and injured two other people.

The Iowa State Patrol identifies the victim as 50-year-old Sai Lee of Little Canada, Minnesota.

Authorities say Lee was northbound on Highway 60 three miles north of Highway 18 when he was distracted trying to open a can of pop. The vehicle left the road and went into a dredge ditch where it rolled, coming to rest on the passenger side.

Authorities say Lee was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon where he was pronounced dead.

Two passengers in the vehicle were injured and taken by ambulance to Northwest Iowa Health Center. One is from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; the other from St. Paul.

The mishap took place around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Sheldon Police Department and the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
