Hot Bearing Blamed For Field Fire

November 22, 2014

(Wallingford)– Authorities say a hot bearing on a combine is the probable cause of a corn field fire that broke out Wednesday northeast of Wallingford.

Wallingford Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer says his department was called to the scene around 5:00 p.m.

Fischer says the combine operator tried to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher. Fischer says firefighters quickly doused the fire and put out some hot spots.

No damage was reported to the combine and noone was hurt.

The Wallingford Fire Department was on the scene about 45 minutes.
