(Spencer)– Meth-related charges have been filed against two people as the result of a joint investigation by the Clay and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Offices.
Authorities say it stems from a traffic stop around 3:45 p.m. Monday on Highway 71 about a mile south of Fostoria. The driver, 43-year-old Frederick William Kaminska the third of Spencer, was taken into custody after a subsequent search of his vehicle turned up multiple boxes of pseudoephedrine pills, a lithium battery and aluminum foil…ingredients commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine. Authorities say the search was based on surveillance and previous criminal information against Kaminska, who had been arrested previously in Spirit Lake on meth-related charges.
A passenger in the vehicle, 39-year-old Donald Lawrence Bendlin of Spencer, was also taken into custody.
Both Kaminska and Bedlin were booked into the Clay county jail on a charge of possession of precursors-pseudoephedrine and lithium…each a class “D” felony.
As the investigation continued, a search warrant was obtained and executed at 1320 Second Avenue East in Spencer. It turned up quantities of methamphetamine and paraphernalia…resulting in additional charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine…a class “C” felony…and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor…being filed against Kaminska.
Kaminska and Bendlin were both being held in the Clay county jail pending initial court appearances. Kaminska was being held on 84,825-dollars bond while Bendlin was being held on 19,500-dollars bond.
Kaminska’s vehicle, a 1991 Buick Century, was also seized and forfeiture proceedings are underway.
