Car vs. Pedestrian Collision Results In Charges Against Pedestrian

(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a man who was struck by a car Sunday night in Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake police say they were called around 9:30 p.m. to a report of a person who had been struck by a vehicle at the corner of Highways nine and 71 and Keokuk Avenue. Authorities say 17-year-old Stephen Friedrich of Milford was driving a 1998 Chrysler on Highways nine and 71 when he collided with 25-year-old Nathan Bell who was standing in the roadway.

Bell was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare complaining of possible injuries. He was checked over and released.

Bell, who’s hometown wasn’t immediately available, was charged with public intoxication and failure to use a crosswalk.

No damage was reported to a 1998 Chrysler Friedrich was driving.
