(Spencer)– A northern Iowa publishing company announced today (Thursday) it will be opening a branch location in Spencer.
Jim Hill of Fort Dodge-based Heartland Communications Group tells KUOO news they’ve taken out a lease on a three thousand square foot location on south Grand Avenue…behind the Subway restaurant.
Hill says they looked at several different communities and decided on Spencer. Hill says the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation was a big assistance and that the company likes what it sees in the area.
Hill, who is the company’s Director of Creative/Editorial Services and a Spencer resident, will be heading up Heartland Communications Spencer operations. He says they plan to hire about 20 people to work in the Spencer location over the next several weeks with the intent to have the branch operation up and running around the first of the year.
The company is seeking candidates for clerical positions, sales representatives and sales managers.
Hill says operations in Spencer will consist of telephone sales and possibly some graphic design. He says initially, three of the 30-some publications the company puts out will be produced in Spencer.
Heartland Communications Group is a nationally recognized publishing company. In addition to it’s Fort Dodge corporate offices and the soon-to-be branch locations in Spencer and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the company also operates in Lincoln, Nebraska; Phoenix, Arizona; Kansas City, Missouri; and Menasha, Wisconsin.
