(Okoboji)– Residents in the city of Okoboji can expect to see an increase in their property tax bills.
Meeting in special session Wednesday, the city council reviewed a preliminary budget for the upcoming fiscal year that reflects a levy increase of 58 cents per one thousand dollars of valuation.
City Administrator Dennis Daly pins the increase on two factors: an overall increase in expenditures and a drop in the growth of taxable valuation. He says it increased by only a little more than a million dollars…much less than in previous years.
Daly anticipates the council will hold a public hearing on the budget at its March 13th meeting.
