NW Iowa Teen Sentenced On Sexual Abuse Charges

November 22, 2014

(Rock Rapids)– A northwest Iowa teen is heading to prison after pleading guilty to three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

17-year-old Todd Allen Meyeraan of George was charged in September and November with three counts of kidnapping, one count of burglary and six counts of sexual abuse.

The charges involved assaults on several victims as young as 13. In the plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to three of the sexual abuse charges in exchange for the others being dropped.

He faced as much as 30 years in prison, but Judge Patrick Carr sentenced him to 20 years, saying it will take that much time to rehabilitate Meyeraan.

Meyeraan must also register a sex offender.
