Developer Appeals Dick. Co. Bd. Of Adjustment Denial Of Permit For Airstrip

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A developer is appealing the Dickinson County Board of Adjustment’s denial last month of a conditional use permit that would have allowed him to build a private airstrip in western Dickinson county.

Scott Nylen of WestStar Holdings, LLC has appealed the matter to Dickinson County District Court and is asking a judge to overturn the board’s action.

The Board of Adjustment voted three-to-two December 18th to deny the permit following a public hearing before a standing-room-only crowd at the Dickinson County Community Building.

Immediately following that vote Nylen told KUOO news he didn’t plan to appeal. But he says he changed his mind after hearing from the business community.

Plans for the landing strip, hangars and office building drew opposition from neighbors concerned over traffic, noise and other issues.

Nylen is being represented in the matter by Milford attorney David Stein, Junior.
